In November 1963, Jerry Bruno served as the Special Assistant to John Bailey, the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. His primary responsibilities involved organizing, planning, and advancing domestic trips for President John F. Kennedy. In this capacity, Bruno played a central role in organizing the logistics and political maneuvering for the President's trip to Texas.
This was a voluntary, sworn deposition given by Jerry Bruno, the former Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. He was questioned by Belford Lawson, Counsel for the Committee conducted by the Select Committee on Assassinations (also known as the HSCA), specifically under the Subcommittee on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy.Â
This deposition was originally sealed from the public for 50 years. However, mounting public pressure led to the passage of the 1992 JFK Assassination Records Collection Act, which established the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB) to expedite the release of these historical documents. Consequently, the original 2029 release date was overridden, and the deposition was officially declassified and opened in full to the public in August 1993.
