The Origins of This Project
This chronology was born out of necessity. I originally initiated and authored the "Prelude" section for the Wikipedia article "Timeline of the John F. Kennedy assassination." However, after watching that research become subjected to the constant editing, redacting, and gatekeeping of senior Wikipedia editors, it became clear that a public wiki could not support an uncompromised historical record.
To ensure the facts of this tragedy could be documented freely and accurately, I launched this independent database on May 29, 2017—on what would have been JFK’s 100th birthday. It stands as an unfiltered, definitive accounting of one of the darkest hours in American history.
To capture the true atmosphere of the era, I have anchored this timeline in original source material. This allows the reader to step back into the time period and track the unfolding events with the same urgency as those who lived it.
